Erin Redd and the Utes picked up four wins last Saturday at the Utah Valley Tournament to cap their spring exhibition season.

OREM, Utah - The University of Utah volleyball team wrapped up its spring training by going 4-0 in a series of best-of-three matches last Saturday at the Utah Valley Tournament, its second title of the exhibition season.
"I was pleased with the preparation leading into our last spring tournament," Utah Head Coach Beth Launiere said. "We played well all day and had a fun tournament."
Match 1: Utah def. Select Alumni, 2-0
Utah started the day strong with a 2-0 win over a Select Alumni team. The Utes hit .288 in the match, while holding the Alumni to a .109 mark. Chelsey Schofield paced the Utah attack with a .625 hitting percentage. Makenzie Moea'i followed with a .375 output, while both middle blockers Erin Redd and Bailey Bateman hit .333.
Match 2: Utah def. Southern Utah, 2-0
Utah earned its second consecutive 2-0 win over Southern Utah after hitting for a blistering .352 hitting percentage as a team, while Southern Utah went for .255. Middle blocker Eden Frazier went for a .571 clip on the attack and Schofield led the Ute outsides with a .429 mark. Shelby Dalton turned in a .364 hitting clip in the match, while Redd registered her second straight .333 hitting percentage. Other efficient Utes on the attack against the Thunderbirds were outside hitter Morgan Odale (.267) and Moeai'i (.250).
The Utes took their third straight 2-0 victory on the day, this time over Utah State. The Ute block earned a 12.0-5.0 edge over the Aggies, while hitting for a .258 mark and limiting USU to .086. Two Utah players hit over .500 against the Aggies as Redd had a .556 efficiency in the match and Moea'i went for .500. From the outside, Schofield turned in a .368 percentage on the attack.
Match 4: Utah def. BYU, 2-1
In the final match of the day, Utah downed BYU, 2-1. The Utes outhit the Cougars, .319 to .257 and held a 7.0-4.0 edge in team blocks. Redd continued to be effective on the attack with a team-high .545 hitting percentage, while Moea'i and Schofield both hit .429 against the Cougars. Dalton contributed to the Utah attack with a .333 hitting percentage.
"The team worked very hard this spring and Saturday was a culmination of that hard work," Launiere said. "Everyone is excited about the 2013 season."
