SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah volleyball setter Sydney Anderson won Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Week honors in helping Utah to a four-game upset over No. 16-ranked Brigham Young.
This marks the first such honor in Anderson's career.
Last weekend, she led Utah to a 3-1 win in Provo, Utah, as she had a career-high 57 assists and 13 digs. It was her third straight double-double and the fourth of her career. The Salt Lake City native also amassed a career-high six kills on eight attempts in hitting for .750 for the match. Anderson was responsible for the four Ute hitters who tallied double-digit kills. She set the attack that hit .315 against one of the best defensive squads in the conference. Against the Cougars, Anderson averaged 14.25 assists, 3.25 digs and 1.50 kills per game.
The win vaulted Utah into sole possession of first place in the conference race.
Anderson shares the award with Colorado State's setter, Ashley Fornstrom, who turned a triple-double in the win over Wyoming this past Sunday.
Anderson and the Utes return to the court on Tuesday to play at Idaho State. First serve in Pocatello, Idaho, is set for 6 p.m.
