This Week: The Utes play in the prequalifying rounds of the ITA Women's All-American Championships held Saturday, Oct. 1, and Sunday, Oct. 2. Elizabeth Ferris and Emily Kwok will compete in doubles play as well as individually in singles.
The Opposition: In the prequalifying matches there will be 64 singles and 32 doubles teams playing. Some of the other teams joining Utah in the tournament include Duke, Yale, Iowa, Georgia Tech, Pepperdine, Colorado Sate, Fresno State, USC, Michigan, and Texas.
Ute Notes: The Utes went 13-13 last season and placed fifth in the Mountain West Conference ... seven letter winners return from 2004-05 ... Emily Kwok and Elizabeth Ferris were named all-Mountain West Conference in singles last season ... duo Ferris and Kwok played in semifinals at the BYU Invitational.
Quote From Head Coach Megan Dorny: "We haven't played in this tournament in a few years, so it is exciting to be able to participate in a competition of this caliber. This is the first of the major college tournaments being held this fall, and we expect our girls to do well."
Coming Up:
Utah hosts the Wilson/ ITA Central Regional Tournament Oct. 19-23 at the Eccles Tennis Center.
