SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team prepares for the opening of the fall tournament schedule. The Utes will be competing at the BYU Invitational in Provo, Utah on Thursday, Sept. 20, with competition going through Saturday. The tournament is set to start at 10:00 a.m. MST.
The tournament will play host to three Mountain West Conference contenders: Utah, BYU, and Colorado State. Other schools competing will be Weber State, Utah State, and Boise State.
"We are very excited to be competing in this fall tournament," states head coach Mat Iandolo. "It is an opportunity for us to learn about our team and get a feel for where we stand at this early point of the season."
Last year, Cheyenne Reveche dominated the Flight 2 singles for a win in the finals over Alexsandra Stefanova from Weber State. Elizabeth Ferris faced Lauren Jones from BYU in the semifinals for a rough 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-4 loss to the Cougar. In doubles play, Ferris and Leigh Walsh competed through the semifinals in Flight 1, while Karine Bourdages and now graduated Cinthia Saucedo competed in the Flight 2 semifinals.
