SALT LAKE CITY- Utah women's tennis player Evgenia Kryuchkova has been voted the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Senior Player of the Year, it was announced this week
"Evgenia has accomplished as much as anyone could over a four year period as part of a rebuilding program," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "We are very proud of her efforts during her career."
Kryuchkova, a three-time all-Mountain West Conference singles selection, has amassed an overall singles record of 20-14 so far this season, going 4-3 in league play. At the MWC Championships, the Zhukovsky, Russia, native earned the match-clinching point in Utah's 4-1 victory over TCU to deliver the Utes' first conference tournament title since joining the MWC.
Kryuchkova earned the first national singles ranking of her collegiate career in January, coming in at No. 60 in the first ITA poll of the season.
In tournament play, Kryuchkova upset 29th-ranked Erin Vierra of Virginia at the University of Virginia Winter Invitational, reached the singles quarterfinals at the Mountain Region Championships in the fall and upset 41st-ranked Michaela Kissell of Marshall at the UVa Fall Invitational.
