In addition being named Player of the Week a record four times this season, Utah junior Anastasia Putilina was also named the 2011 MWC Women's Tennis Player of the Year last week.

SALT LAKE CITY- Junior Anastasia Putilina of the 49th-ranked University of Utah women's tennis team (16-9) was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week Wednesday. In addition to earning the weekly honor for a record fourth time this season, Putilina was also named the 2011 MWC Women's Tennis Player of the Year last week.
Putilina went 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles at the MWC Championships over the weekend, to help the Utes capture their first conference tournament title since joining the MWC.
The Belgorod, Russia native, who has played at the top of the Utah singles lineup since her freshman year, defeated Hannah Dake 6-2, 6-2, in the Ute's quarterfinal match against Air Force and downed Katariina Tuohimaa 6-2, 6-3, in Utah's win over TCU in the finals.
At the No. 1 doubles position, Putilina and partner Paige Miles topped the Falcons' team of Melissa Cecil and Tahlia Smoke, 8-4, in the quarterfinals. The all-MWC duo went on to best Wyoming's Simona Synkova and Kim van Ginkel at the No. 1 position, 9-7, in the Utes' semifinal match, before defeating the Horned Frogs' team of Tuohimaa and Maria Babanova in the finals, 8-2.
By winning the MWC Tournament title, Utah also earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Championships. The Utes face will face Alabama (15-6) in the first round of the NCAA's, at 9 a.m. ET, Saturday, May 14, in Athens, Ga.
