Utes Earn No. 53 National Ranking From ITA

March 12, 2008

SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team received a No. 53 national ranking from the Intecollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The ITA released their latest team rankings on Tuesday. The next rankings will contain updated singles and doubles rankings in addition to the national team rankings.

The Utes were ranked No. 49 last week by the ITA, but did not play ranked opponents over the weekend to maintain the top 50 ranking. The team is currently 9-4 this season and on a three-match winning streak over Utah State (7-0), Montana (7-0), and Weber State (7-0).

Utah will look to spring back into the top 50 if they can pull out a win over No. 33 South Carolina this Saturday at Eccles Tennis Center.

The ITA will post their next national rankings on March 18, 2008. Elizabeth Ferris, currently ranked No. 52, is aiming for a top 50 appearance in the singles rankings.
