TULSA, Okla. - The University of Utah women's tennis team finished the third day of the Central Region Championship Tournament on Friday, Oct. 25.
In singles competition, junior Cassie Kasteler advanced to the third round of the main draw by defeating Ia Zozrashvili from SMS (6-4, 6-4). In the third round, Kasteler fell to Oklahoma's Anda Perianu (6-3, 6-0). In the singles backdraw, junior Sheri Esrock downed Tulsa's Donata Majauskaite (5-7, 6-3, 6-4) to advance to the third round.
In doubles, Esrock and freshman Rachel Alder fell to Oklahoma's Annette Bryntesson/Bethany Griffin (8-5). Kasteler and freshman Joanna Zyndzo fell to Brigham Young's Hayley MacFarlane/Nicole Schneider (8-5).
Competition will continue on Saturday, Oct. 26 and last through Sunday, Oct. 27.
