Salt Lake City, Utah - Utah performed well during the first day of the main draw competition for the Wilson ITA Central Regional Tournament on Friday. The main draw singles participants were sophomores Emily Kwok and Elizabeth Ferris. Kwok defeated Christi Baxley from Oklahoma in the round of 64; 6-2, 6-3. Ferris defeated Imke Reimers from Nebraska; 6-2, 6-4. In the main draw for doubles, duo Kwok and Leigh Walsh, a freshman, received a bye for the round of 64. In the round of 32, the duo defeated Anaines Exeni and Wendi Webster from Wichita State; 8-25.
The Wilson ITA Central Regional Tournament continues through Sunday at the Eccles Tennis Center.
