TULSA, OKLA. - The University of Utah women's tennis team completed the second day of the Wilson/ ITA Central Regional Tournament on Thursday at the University of Tulsa. One singles player and a Ute duo remain in the competition.
Elizabeth Ferris (88), the No. 7 seed in the competition, began the day of competition against conference opponent Hilary Tyler from Colorado State. To get things started, the Ute took the first set effortlessly at 6-1. Not going down without a fight, the Ram stepped up her game in the second set in an attempt to challenge Ferris. The two played through a long second set, but it was the Ute that took the victory in the end at 6-1, 7-6(3).
In Thursday's doubles competition, Ferris and Leigh Walsh entered the competition in the round of 32. As the No. 6 seed in the tournament, the Ute duo faced Rebecca Row and Jie Zeng from Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane duo was only able to match half of the points that Ferris and Walsh tallied. The Ute duo took the match at 8-4 to advance into the next round of the tournament.
