PROVO, Utah - The University of Utah women's tennis team claimed its first conference victory with a win over Air Force. The Utes defeated the Falcons 4-3.
The only doubles victory for Utah came at the No. 3, when senior Rachel Alder and sophomore Jenessa Jackson downed Katie Tomkie and Liza Vaccaro 8-1.
Despite losing the one point lead, the Utes dominated at four of the six singles spots. At the No. 2, Whitney Eber took care of Kat Bushey in three sets (6-0, 5-7, 7-5). Cinthia Saucedo picked up a win at the No. 3 by defeating Karissa Walker (6-4, 1-6, 6-4). Competing at the No. 5, Jessica Watts dispatced Katie Tomkie (7-6(1), 4-6, 6-1) after three sets while Jackson crushed Vaccaro(6-4, 6-2) at the No. 6.
