SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team took care of the University of Portland 4-3 at the Eccles Tennis Center.

The Utes won at two of the three doubles spots and claimed the one point lead. Competing at the No. 2, Ute duo Jessica Watts and Cinthia Saucedo defeated Tanabe and Tyson (8-6). Rachel Alder and Jenessa Jackson downed Correll and Ring-Marrison (8-3) at the No. 3.

Utah was victorious at three of the six singles spots. Freshman Whitney Eber picked up the deciding point at the No. 2 with a (6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (1)) win over Tanabe. At the No. 5, Watts defeated Correll (7-6(7), 7-5) and Jackson dispatched Ring-Marrinson (1-6, 6-1, 6-3) at the No. 6. Utah walked away with the win and put and end to a ten match losing streak.

Head Coach Megan Dorny comments on the match. "This was a very exciting win for us. Whitney won the deciding point coming back form an 0-5 deficit in the third set. Winning the doubles point was big for us today. "
