OGDEN, Utah - The University of Utah women's tennis team was defeated 4-3 by Weber State University.
Weber State started off strong by winning two of three doubles matches and earning a one point lead. The duo of Rachel Alder and Jenessa Jackson claimed the Ute's only doubles victory (8-6) over Brianna Beachene and Chelsee Drews at the No. 2.
In singles, Utah clinched wins at the three spots. At the No. 3, Cinthia Saucedo took care of Elana Smit in three sets (5-7, 6-1, 6-4). Competing at the No. 5, Jessica Watts defeated Drews, while Jackson picked up a win over Karla Pretorius at the No. 6. The scores for these matches were unavailable. The deciding point came down to the No. 1 spot, where Esrock fell to Robertina Marcu after three hard sets (7-5, 1-6, 6-4). The Wildcats walked away with the win.
Utah hits the courts next at home against Portland on Sunday, April 4 at noon.
