Salt Lake City - The University of Utah women's tennis team edged Mountain West opponent Colorado State 4-3 at home in the Eccles Tennis Center. The Utes are now 2-1 in the conference.
At No. 1 doubles, Liz Ferris and Allison Hansen defeated Dasha Zhurin and Emily Kirchem (8-1). However, Colorado State took the No. 2 and 3 doubles and earned the one point lead.
The Utes relied on strong singles performances to come from behind and beat the Rams. Freshman Emily Kwok moved into the No. 1 singles spot and earned a (7-5, 6-4) win over Emily Kirchem. Liz Ferris defeated Anne Andersen (6-3, 7-6(6)) at the No. 2 position while Whitney Eber downed Carla Pallares (6-2, 6-1) at the No. 3 spot. Cinthia Saucedo was also victorious over her oppponent, Jasmine Singh (6-4, 7-5) at No. 6.
