Junior shortstop Kelsi Hoopiiaina had two hits and two runs driven in, but the University of Utah softball team fell to UC Santa Barbara, 6-5, in its third game of the Kajikawa Classic on Saturday at the Tempe Sports Complex.

The University of Utah will induct two former Ute athletes and a pair of former coaches into the Crimson Club Hall of Fame on Monday, April 23 at Energy Solutions Arena. Honored at the 2012 Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be Norma Carr (softball and volleyball coach/administrator), Bente Dahlum (skiing), Ron McBride (football coach) and Keith Van Horn (basketball).

The University of Utah softball team begins its inaugural Pac-12 Conference campaign with four games over three days at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. The Utes will face former Mountain West Conference foe San Diego State at 11:30 a.m., on Friday then Western Michigan at 6:30 p.m. Utah will have a single game on Saturday against UC Santa Barbara at 8:30 p.m., followed by a 1:30 p.m., contest on Sunday against Portland State.
