SALT LAKE CITY--Utah softball players Heather Bowlin, Melissa Stahnke and Jenni Thurston have been named All-American Scholar Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association. The three received the honor for last year's academic performance.
Bowlin, a senior, boasts a 3.546 GPA and is a communication major. She was named Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the week twice last season and is one of two returning pitchers in the Utes' lineup this year.
The senior Stahnke has a cumulative 3.586 GPA in elementary education. She ranks as the Utes career home run leader (44) and is third in career RBI (142). During her freshman year,
Thurston recorded a 3.664 GPA in math education.
