SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah softball team saw all five of its freshmen student-athletes honored by the Mountain West Conference today, recognizing them with the Scholar-Athlete Award.
Honored were: Meghan Crouse, Fr., 3.57, Undeclared; Sharee Fonoti, Fr., 3.75 Undeclared; Staci Hemingway, Fr., 3.90, Undeclared; Kelly Matthews, Fr., 3.67, Undeclared; Diana Phillips, Fr., 3.58, Undeclared.
To be eligible, student-athletes must have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the certifying institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have competed in at least one varsity contest in their respective sport.
