Utah junior softball player Melissa Stahnke has been named to the Verizon Academic All-America District VIII Team.

SALT LAKE CITY--Utah Junior Melissa Stahnke has been named to the Verizon Academic All-America District VIII Team. The Ridgefield, Wash., native will now advance to the national ballot, which will be released later this month. This is the second consecutive all-district academic honor for Stahnke.
Stahnke has composed a 3.57 GPA during her time at Utah. She is currently pursing a degree in elementary education, with future goals to be a kindergarten teacher.
The third baseman ranks as Utah's career home run leader with 44, which includes six this season. She is hitting .270 on the year, with a team-high 29 RBI. Stahnke is a two-time all-conference honoree.
