COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Utah freshman utility player Devina Quintero and San Diego State senior third baseman Kelcy Murphy have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Co-Players of the Week, while San Diego State sophomore pitcher Celena Velasquez has been named Pitcher of the Week. Quintero now leads all MWC Players with three nods this season.

Quintero hit .643 (9-for-14) from the plate last week, helping the Utes to a 3-1 record. The Reseda, Calif., native had a home run, three doubles and five RBI, while collecting multiple hits in all four games. Against Utah Valley State, Quintero went 2-for-3, driving in a run and scoring two runs of her own in the 8-5 Utah win, followed by a 2-for-4 performance against Southern Utah, helping the Utes to an 8-3 victory.

In game one against in-state rival BYU, Quintero went 3-for-3 from the plate, with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. In Utah's 9-8 game two win over the Cougars, Quintero smashed a fourth inning double to left center to score two and put Utah up 8-5. She then put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh with a solo home run to left field. Defensively, Quintero was perfect from the field, turning in three assists with no errors from right field and second base.
