SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah's second baseman Jackie Wong won Player of the Week honors from the Mountain Conference in leading the Utes to a pair of victories over league rival UNLV last week.

Wong, an Antioch, Calif., native, led Utah's potent offense to two conference wins last weekend. In game one against UNLV, the senior lead off hitter belted her second homer of the season, a grand-slam home run that helped Utah tie the school record with 18 runs in a game. Wong also added three scores, allowing Utah to set the single-game record for RBI in a game (18). She ended up plating five RBI in game one against UNLV and finished the series going 4-for-6 (.667). She led the team with a 1.167 slugging percentage and had seven total bases on only four hits. She also had an impressive .714 on-base percentage. Her efforts last weekend lifted her league-leading batting average from .441 to .455.

She has hit two homeruns this year, while entering the season with only one career homer to her credit.

It is Wong's second such honor this year. She was honored for her efforts back on Feb. 28.

The Utes return to action on Wednesday when they play a doubleheader at UVSC. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
