The University of Utah softball team will take on South Dakota State in its home opener TODAY at Ute Softball Field. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

999 and Counting: With one more win, Utah would claim its 1,000th victory in program history. The Utes' all-time record is 999-737-5 (.575).
Quick Starters: The Utes have scored in the first inning in 13 of their 15 games this season and are outscoring their opponents 26-7 in the first frame. Utah has also been the first team to score in 13 of its 15 games in 2010.
Powered-up Utes: Utah is the only MWC school to have individuals with multiple-home run games this season. Three Utes have had two-homer games in 2010, each coming at the Red Desert Classic.
