COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah freshman Devina Quintero and UNLV pitcher Jacqueline Kerrigan have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Quintero, a Reseda, Calif., product, earned her first career player of the week honor with her performance at the Southern Utah Tournament in St. George, Utah, last weekend. In her four games, she went 9-for-13 (.692) from the plate, with four home runs, 11 RBI, five runs scored and a walk, helping the Utes to a 3-1 record. Quintero had at least two hits in three of the four games, including a 3-for-4 performance against Southern Utah on the opening day of the tournament. Against the Thunderbirds, she belted her first career home run (a three-run shot), collecting three RBI and scoring two runs in the process, in the 10-1 Utah victory.

Quintero slammed another three-run homer against UC Riverside the next day, helping the Utes to an 8-0 win. She concluded the tournament with a 3-for-4, two home run outing against Loyola Marymount, leading Utah to a 10-9 extra inning win. She started with a two run blast in the fourth inning to cut the Lion lead to 3-2. She connected on her second homer of the game one inning later to even the score at five apiece. Quintero gave the Utes their first lead of the game in the top of the seventh on her two-run single, bringing in Glennis Donnelly and Jackie Wong for the 7-6 advantage.
