SALT LAKE CITY--Utah ended its three-game home losing streak by defeating New Mexico, 6-2, on Sunday afternoon. The win gives Utah (18-24, 6-8) a doubleheader split with the Lobos (21-32, 4-10).

Utah finally capitalized on its chances, by scoring six runs off seven hits in the game. The Utes put a trio of runs on the board in the second. The first came off Glennis Donnelly's fourth home run in four games. Next, Traci Keller laid down a perfect bunt as Utah executed the squeeze play to score Lynsey Wall from third. The last run came on a Lobo error (3-0).

A triple and a single led to a Lobo run in the third to make it 3-1. In the bottom of the third, Ivette Hernandez smacked a single to left field to score Donnelly and Melissa Stahnke. Both had singled earlier in the inning. With a 5-1 advantage, Utah added another run in the fifth to make it 6-1. The Lobos hit a home run in the sixth to make it 6-2.

Jen Pursell (11-13) earns the victory after scattering four hits in 7.0 innings, while striking out seven.

Donnelly finished 2-of-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Stahnke and Hernandez also had two hits in the outing.
