Junior Masie Ota had two hits and two RBI in the Utes' victory over Texas Tech.

Phoenix, Ariz.--The Utah softball team began its season on a good note, by defeating Texas Tech, 3-2, at the Fiesta Bowl Tournament. Utah scored all of its runs in the second inning. Junior Masie Ota and freshman Ivette Hernandez notched two hits apiece to lead Utah. Ota also posted two RBI on the day, while freshman Sarah Lyman knocked in the other run.
Jen Pursell earned the win for Utah. Pursell threw a complete game, allowing two runs off six hits, while striking out nine batters.
