SALT LAKE CITY - Utah junior defender Melissa Crespo has been named to the Soccer Buzz Magazine Elite Team of the Week.

The Milpitas, Calif., native was recognized for her efforts in the Utes' shutout wins on the road last week. Utah defeated Air Force 2-0 on Wednesday and New Mexico 3-0 on Sunday. Crespo has played a major role for a Ute defense that has not allowed a goal in conference play and has shutout its last six opponents.

Crespo also had two assists last week. She assisted on Adele Letro's goal in the 21st minute against Air Force to break a scoreless tie. She assisted on Amanda Feigt's goal in the 85th minute versus New Mexico, capping off a three-goal afternoon.

Utah, which has climbed to its highest national ranking ever of No. 11 in the NSCAA/adidas poll, plays two of its final three regular season games at home. The Utes host TCU on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Ute Field. Utah then heads to San Diego State on Sunday before hosting Wyoming on Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
