Lauren Field earned her first MWC Player of the Week honor on Monday. |
Sept. 8, 2003
SALT LAKE CITY - Utah junior forward Lauren Field and Wyoming junior forward Mari Gomes have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week. This is Field's first player of the week honor of her career.
Field, a High Point, N.C., product, collected a hat trick off of seven shots in the Utes' 3-2 overtime victory over Baylor on Sunday. She scored her first goal in the 13th minute of the match (assisted by Amanda Feigt) to put Utah up 1-0. Field again found the net on an unassisted shot from 40 yards out in the 76th minute to tie the score at two apiece and send the match into overtime. With 1:54 left in the first extra period, she headed in the game-winner off a corner kick from Missy Dennis to secure the victory for Utah.
Utah (3-1-0) returns to action against Weber State on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Ute Field.
