SALT LAKE CITY - Soccer Buzz Magazine has named Utah signees Lynzee Lee and Katy Reineke to its list of Top 100 high school recruits in the nation. Both Lee and Reineke will join the Ute women's soccer program for the 2005 season.
"Katy and Lynzee are excellent prospects and deserving of this recognition," said Ute head coach Rich Manning. "They are part of a terrific incoming group of soccer players here at Utah. They both play for the Celtic Storm soccer club and have been an important part of that team's success here in Utah and across the West."
Lee is a native of Kalispell, Mont., but played this past season at Alta High School in Sandy, Utah. The goalkeeper was a first team all-state selection and led Alta to the Utah state championship in 2004.
"Lynzee is a terrific goalkeeper," said Manning. "Her competitive nature will help our defense right away. She is also athletic, strong and courageous."
Reineke, a forward, led Salt Lake City East High School to the Class 4A state title last fall. Reineke was also named the 2004 Class 4A MVP and is a three-time first team all-state selection.
"Katy is a well-rounded midfielder who can change the game offensively," said Manning. "Her left foot is lethal. She is capable of scoring or whipping in a dangerous cross at any point of the game."
Utah, coming off its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, opens its season on Aug. 26 at San Francisco.
