SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's soccer team (9-9-2, 4-2-1) closed its regular season with a 3-0 shutout win over Air Force Saturday on Senior Day. Sophomore forward Erin Dalley scored a pair of goals in the contest.
"I thought this was a well-played, physical game and a good win," said Utah head coach Rich Manning. "You know Air Force is always going to bring it and we responded well with intensity and good speed of play. It was great to get a win on Senior Day, our players definitely rallied around them. Everyone got to play, even Emalee (Rogers) with her cast. Jen (Christoffers) got a goal and Kelly (Isleib) did a good job as well."
Dalley scored the first two goals of the game on nearly identical plays, finding the back of the net once in each half. Her first goal came from 15 yards out in the 26th minute as junior forward Lauren Hair played a through ball, which Dalley gathered and struck past Falcon goalkeeper Ariana Green. She delivered her second goal in the 55th minute by finishing off a through ball from freshman forward Hanna Terry, also from 15 yards out.
Senior forward Jen Christoffers capped the scoring with a terrific header in the 67th minute. Appropriately, the assist came from Isleib, who extended her all-time Utah assists record to 28, a perfect finish to her stellar career.
"This was definitely an emotional day but it was fun," said Isleib. "We played with a ton of energy, the whole team gave one-hundred percent, and this was a good team to play against. Getting that assist was a fun way to end it here and it was awesome that Jen got that great header. Senior-to-senior for a goal on Senior Day."
Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Turpen recorded her fifth shutout of the year, making three saves. Rogers did not see action in the net due to a wrist injury, but was inserted into the game as a field player, getting several touches on the ball.
