SALT LAKE CITY - Utah closed out its home schedule with a 3-0 win over Air Force on Saturday afternoon at Ute Field. It was the fourth consecutive win for the Utes, who stayed in front in the Mountain West Conference race.
Utah improved to 11-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play, while the Falcons fell to 4-12-1 on the season and 0-4 in league games.
The Utes gave an impressive performance in front of several former players, who were on hand for Utah's first ever Alumni Reunion Day.
After Air Force put the Utes in front 1-0 with an own goal in the 20th minute, Utah scored off of a set piece in the 56th minute. Emily Campbell arced in a perfect corner kick from the left side to junior Melissa Wayman, who was camped out in front of the net. Wayman headed the ball toward the left post for her third goal of the season.
Junior forward Amanda Feigt scored on a breakaway opportunity in the 67th minute. Senior Kim Lloyd, playing her final home game, sent a long pass from the left side of the field towards Feigt, who had shaken loose from the Falcon defense. Feigt dribbled down the middle of the field and slotted a 10-yard shot past Air Force keeper Erin Wallace. It was Feigt's fifth goal of the season.
Adele Letro and Hailey Marsh both had two shots on goal for the Utes, while Lloyd had one.
The Utes outshot the Falcons 13-7 and had an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Wallace made five saves for Air Force. Emalee Rogers, who relieved Ashley Mason in goal in the 79th minute, made the only save of the game for the Utes.
