Quickly Utah (9-10-2, 3-2 WAC) travels to the WAC Championships in Dallas, Texas. The Utes, Pacific Division second seed, open the tournament against Tulsa on Wed., Nov. 5 at 4:30 p.m. All games will be held at SMU's Westcot Field.
Recent Results The Utes finished their regular season last week going 0-2-1. Utah lost to Weber State 2-0, tied with No. #17 SMU (1-1) and lost 1-0 to TCU. The Utes go into the WAC Championships with a 9-10-2 record (3-2-0 WAC).
Utes to Watch Freshman Lorrie Tipton leads the Utes in scoring. The forward has scored eight goals and six assists for 22 points. Sophomore Staci Burt is first on the team in goals scored (nine) and second in overall points (22, nine goals and four assists). She was named to the 1996 all-WAC second team. Junior goalkeeper Tawni Martineau has started 18 games playing 1,533 minutes. She has accumulated 87 saves, allowed 28 goals and posted seven shutouts this season. She holds a goals-against average of 1.553. Martineau was a member of the 1996 academic-all WAC team. Senior Amanda Schmutz has started every game in her three-year Utah career. She has anchored Utah's defense. Her offensive contributions include three goals and two assists.
