The Huntsman Center
The Jon M. Huntsman Center, named one of the top five
basketball arenas in the nation, is the acknowledged as the best
gymnastics facility. It has 15,000 chair seats, all with a
terrific view of the arena floor. The Huntsman Center has hosted
a record eight national women's gymnastics championships (seven
NCAA, one AIAW), as well as a number of elite competitions. The
largest crowd ever to watch a college gymnastics meet was held in
the Huntsman Center: Utah drew 15,238 fans to a meet against Cal
State-Fullerton in 1993. The Ute gymnasts have a huge home court
advantage, averaging almost 11,000 spectators a meet in the
JHC-by far the best in the nation. Going into the 2000 season,
Utah has gone 20 years without a regular season loss on its home
court, and including post-season competition, has won 95 percent
of its home meets.
