SALT LAKE CITY -
Each week, a Ute gymnast contributes an excerpt for the Utah Gymnastics Diary. This week's edition of the Utah Gymnastics Journal is provided by junior Natalie Nicoloff.
Wow ... another week of "skill development" is over and only one more to go until we move onto our next stage of development, which is "combinations." Boy does it go fast. This week was awesome though. Despite all of the tests that everyone had and the stress of school, things couldn't be going better in workouts and the energy in the gym has been incredible. Everyone seems to be having so much fun getting their skills ready. You should see some of the new things people are working on. They're pretty sweet!
Cameron, our team manager, had a birthday on Friday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMROD! We made him a big card and a few of us took him to dinner. You're getting old Cam! What would we do without you though? You do so much for us. Thanks!
On Saturday, for our aerobics training, we did a kick boxing class and let me tell you it was so much fun. I personally have never done kickboxing before and it was an amazing workout. Jenny, our aerobics instructor, really did kick all of our butts, including Tom (our trainer), Cameron and Megan.
Everyone had a good weekend. Our Utes won another football game against New Mexico. Way to go Utes ...5-0. Of course, we had to help them celebrate a little. The rest our free time we used very wisely with a little shopping and just hanging out. It's always fun just chillin' with my girls! Who needs boys, right? Wait, did I just write that? Sorry, I lost my head for a moment.
This week we only have three days of training. The University's fall break begins on Thursday. Everybody is looking forward to have a little time off. Well everyone except Nicolle who has to get her wisdom teeth out on Wednesday. Ouch! Good luck with that Queen. Everyone else will be doing something fun with their time off. Some of us are going home, some are having friends come here to visit them and a number of us are doing "road trips" to a variety of places. Others, like Greg and Megan, are going to Cancun, Mexico! I'm so jealous! Can you please put me in your suitcase? The time off should be good to catch up on things and to get refreshed so that we can come back ready for another stage of our preparation for the coming season. Speaking of the coming season--I CAN'T WAIT! Can I just go to sleep and wake up in January?
Well that's it for this week. Make sure that you come and visit us in the gym sometime, just not this Thursday and Friday. We always like getting visitors! Be sure to watch for Gabi's journal next week too. You can hear all about what we did on our fall break.Yuck, that sounds a little like a report I had to give in school one time.
GO UTES,
Nat
