SALT LAKE CITY -
The pairings have been announced for the qualifying sessions at the upcoming NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships and Utah was placed in the evening session with host and defending NCAA champion UCLA. The other teams in the evening session on Thursday, Apr. 15 are Alabama, Michigan, Louisiana State and Arizona State. Competing in the afternoon session will be Stanford, Georgia, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Florida and Iowa.

Teams in evening session have combined to win 17 of the 22 NCAA Championships to date. Georgia is the only school in the afternoon session to have won a championship. Utah has won a record nine NCAA titles (10 total national championships), followed by Georgia (5), Alabama (4) and UCLA (4).

Competition for the Utes will begin at 7 p.m. PDT. The top three teams from each session will qualify for the Super Six, Friday, Apr. 16. Individual event finals are scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 17.

The Utes drew the uneven bars as their first event on April 15. They will rotate to beam, then take a bye before going to floor and vault. Utah will finish the night on a bye.

The Utes qualified for the NCAA Championships by winning the South Central Region Championship in Tucson, Ariz., last Saturday. Utah's 197.625 score was the highest score of any of the six regions.
