THIS WEEK IN UTAH GYMNASTICS
Four nationally-ranked teams will square off in the Huntsman Center on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. when No. 15 Utah (0-1) hosts No. 20 Southern Utah (0-1), No. 22 West Virginia (1-0) and No. 23 Oregon State (1-2). The home opener is Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night. Faculty/staff and their families will receive free admission by showing their U. ID Card upon entrance (limit six per U. ID Card). The meet will not be televised, but there will be Free Live Video Streaming

Saturday's quad meet will feature a new format. Rather than all four events running simultaneously as is typical for a four-team meet, only one competitor will compete at a time, allowing fans to watch every routine ... Utah has sold nearly 6,700 season tickets--a new school record ... Utah has not hosted a regular season Saturday home meet in 11 years since beating Brigham Young 198.425-195.250 on Mar. 23, 2002 (the second-best score in school history) ... The last time Utah hosted a regular season meet on a day other than Friday was on Monday, Mar. 6, 2006. The Utes lost that one by the narrowest of margins to Georgia, 197.100-197.075 ... Recognized at the meet for making a difference in the community will be volunteers with the Big Sisters, Girl Scouts and Bennion Center ... It is also LDS Student Association Night ... Utah and Southern Utah both lost at UCLA in their only meets to date. The Utes scored a 195.30, while SUU scored a 194.875.
Sophomore Tory Wilson
picked up Utah's first individual victory of the season while earning her first career victory at UCLA. Wilson tied for first on vault with Utah's highest score on any event (9.90) ... Wilson and sophomore Becky Tutka
made the beam lineup for the first time of their young careers. Wilson fell in her first try on the beam but Tutka scored a 9.75 ... Utah has hit 20-24 routines with three falls on bars and one on beam. Gymnasts without a fall are Georgia Dabritz

Sophomore Kassandra Lopez
was scheduled to go all-around last week at UCLA before she injured her calf in the final practice before the team departed for the trip. Her status for this Saturday is uncertain ... While freshman Breanna Hughes
was the only Ute to debut last week at UCLA, junior Lia Del Priore
made the starting lineup for the first time in two years. Hughes scored a 9.85 on bars and a 9.825 on beam, and Del Priore scored a 9.85 on vault ... Competing in the all-around for the first time since her freshman season was Mary Beth Lofgren
. Her best score came on floor (9.80).
IN THE RANKINGS
Utah dropped 10 spots from its preseason No. 5 ranking after falling three times on bars at UCLA last week and scoring a 195.300. The Utes begin the week ranked No. 15 with a 195.300 "season average" based on its first score. Utah's best individual rankings come from Georgia Dabritz
(No. 7 in the all-around, tied for eighth on bars and tied for 12th on beam), Tory Wilson

Utah leads the series with OSU 59-8 and is 29-0 against the Beavers in Salt Lake City. The Utes have won the last three meets with OSU. Utah is 18-0 against Southern Utah and 12-0 at home.
