With the start to the women's basketball season just around the corner, UtahUtes.com will be spotlighting the members of the women's basketball team in `Getting to Know.' Today's spotlight is sophomore Brittany Knighton.
What is your favorite basketball memory?
My favorite basketball memory was when I first started playing and I was the youngest on the team and I d'd up the best player on the other team and my parents were so proud of me.
What is your favorite sport besides basketball?
I love football now and I like volleyball.
What do you like to do when you are not playing basketball?
I like to just sleep and watch movies. I love to go horseback riding and be around animals.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get your nickname?
Britt-Bratt. Because I am/was a spoiled brat. Chunky Monkey is another one that was gladly given by my mom.
Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
I chose it because I was very close and attached to Coach E (Elliott) and the staff. The best thing is that there is so much to do and it's not usually boring.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My mother. My mother has been through so much with me and she has never given up or left my side through the bad. She is one of the strongest women I know and she has taught me too much. I love her.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
I like the education and I just like the general area.
The teammate I most admire is who, and why?
I admire all my teammates. They all have something special and give back what they have gone through. We all have great qualities that each of us shares.
What do you like best about Coach Levrets?
I like that he doesn't sugar coat anything and also how on the court he can be intense and off the court it's about you personally.
What are your pregame superstitions?
I don't have any, just my mental attitude has to be right.
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
Exercise and Sport Science. I want to go to physical therapy school and be one of the best. :-)
