WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Members of the Utah women's basketball team took three of the five first-team spots on the Pac-12 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, as announced today by Commissioner Larry Scott.
Sophomore forward Taryn Wicijowski, junior guard Rachel Messer and junior forward Chelsea Bridgewater were all named to the first team. In addition, sophomore forward Michelle Plouffe was an honorable mention selection.
To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12 academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and either be a starter or a significant contributor.
Wicijowski holds a 3.91 GPA while majoring in biology and psychology with a minor in chemistry. She was also named to the All-Pac-12 team. Messer, who has a 3.84 GPA in management, started 31 games for the Utes and shot .357 from three-point range. Bridgewater played in 29 games during the season. She is double majoring in psychology and political science with a 3.85 GPA. Plouffe was an honorable mention Associated Press All-American.
