SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team will travel to Pacific for the third round of the WNIT on Thursday, March 28, at 6:00 p.m. PT.
The Utes defeated Long Beach State in the first round and beat San Diego in the second round. Utah has won nine of its last 12 games.
With the win against San Diego, Utah reached the 20-win mark for the first time since 2009-10.
"I think our kids are playing really well right now," Utah head coach Anthony Levrets said. "We're executing at both ends of the floor. I thought [against San Diego], offensively it was as good as we've played in a long time, as far as half-court execution. It's a credit to these kids. To get 20 wins is a big deal. They've put in a ton of effort and I'm really happy for them and how we're playing. Hopefully we can keep it going."
Pacific is 27-7 overall. The team went 14-4 in the Big West. The Tigers have played two Pac-12 opponents this year, falling to Stanford back in December and defeating Washington, 85-78, in the second round of the WNIT.
"Pacific is a very good basketball team," Levrets said. "They have quality wins, they have talented guards, talented bigs, and it's going to be a big challenge playing them in their building. The biggest thing [for us] is that we have to take care of the basketball. They do a great job turning people over. The way they play, similar to Washington, is a lot of what they get is off of dribble penetration. We'll have to be very sound and disciplined in our half-court defense."
