Utah, BYU to Meet in MWC Semifinals
The University of Utah women's basketball team will face Mountain West Conference regular-season champion BYU in the semifinals of the MWC Postseason Tournament Friday afternoon in Las Vegas.
Utah won last season's MWC Tournament, defeating BYU 84-60 in the championship game. Utah is the No. 5 seed in this season's tournament and defeated the No. 4 seed, TCU, 68-67 Wednesday evening.
Utah enters the game with an overall record of 18-12. The Utes had a 10-6 mark in Mountain West Conference play. Freshman Kalee Whipple scored with 1.4 seconds left in Wednesday night's game to lift the Utes into Friday's semifinal.
BYU comes into the contest with a 22-8 overall record. The Cougars were 12-4 in the MWC. The Cougars opened the league tournament with a 72-40 win over Air Force.
