Utes, Lady Frogs Meet in First Round
The University of Utah women's basketball team will play its first game at the Mountain West Conference Tournament Wednesday vs. TCU. The Utes enter as the No. 5 seed in the tournament, while the Lady Frogs are the No. 4 seed.
Utah won last season's MWC Tournament, picking up victories over Air Force, UNLV and BYU. The Utes were the No. 2 seed in the 2006 tournament. This season marks the first time the MWC Tournament has been played in Las Vegas since 2003.
Utah enters the game with an overall record of 17-11 and a 10-6 mark in Mountain West Conference play. The Utes are coming off a 62-53 loss to Wyoming Saturday.
TCU comes into the contest with a 21-9 overall record. The Lady Frogs are 11-5 in the MWC and defeated BYU Saturday afternoon.

Utah has tied or out-rebounded its opponents in 23 of 29 games this season.
Utah holds an average rebound margin of +6.1 per game, which ranks No. 1 in the MWC and is in the top 25 in the nation.
Utah is 11-1 this season when scoring 66 points or more. The Utes' 70-point effort against UNLV on Feb. 15 was their highest scoring output in the last 11 games.
The Utes are 6-0 when holding opponents below 50 points.
The Utes have been the best free-throw shooting team since conference play began, converting at a rate of .812 from the charity stripe.
Utah has turned the ball over less than its opponent just eight times this season.
Warburton, Whipple Named All-MWC
Utah sophomore guard Morgan Warburton was named First-Team All-Mountain West Conference Monday afternoon. Warburton's selection marks the seventh straight season Utah has had at least one member on the conference's first team. Warburton has scored in double figures in 26 of 29 games this season.
Freshman forward Kalee Whipple earned Third-Team All-MWC accolades. She also received heavy consideration for the MWC Newcomer of the Year award, which went to Wyoming's Justyna Podziemska. Whipple was the top freshman scorer and rebounder in the MWC this season.
