BOULDER, Colo. - Three players scored in double figures as the Utah women's basketball team fell to 23rd-ranked Colorado, 67-57 on Tuesday evening.
Taryn Wicijowski led Utah with 17 points and nine rebounds while Michelle Plouffe also scored 17 points. Iwalani Rodrigues tallied 12 points with five boards.
The Utes (9-5, 0-3 Pac-12) took an early 9-2 lead in the game through the first 3:30 in the contest. Utah led by eight points, 30-22 with 4:47 remaining in the first half after a pair of free-throw shots from Wicijowski, before Colorado (12-2, 1-2 Pac-12) rallied to close out the half with a 10-1 run to pull ahead and take a 32-31 lead at halftime.
Utah started the second half strong, retaking the lead with a 14-6 run to start the half for a seven-point margin, 45-38 with 12:50 remaining. However, Colorado rallied for a seven-point run to tie the game at 45-45 with 10 minutes left. The Buffaloes would pull ahead to a 10-point lead over the next few minutes, 58-48 with 5:58 remaining.
Utah held Colorado without a field goal through the final 5:58 of the contest, but could not capitalize as the Buffs made 9-of-10 free throws down the stretch to increase their margin in the final minutes.
Utah plays Colorado again on Sunday, January 13, at 3:00 p.m. MT in the Huntsman Center. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
