REVIEWING LAST WEEK:
Utah had several outstanding performances in the BYU Invitational over the weekend. Junior Roeland Brateanu teamed with freshman Tomasz Grzyb to finish second in the doubles draw. Brateanu and Grzyb defeated three teams from BYU en route to a match with the top-seeded pairing of Carlos Lozano and Eric Nyman, also from BYU. Gryzb and Brateanu fell 5-8.
Junior Tyler Poulson served and vollied his way into the quarterfinals, with wins over Jeremy Price and Anton Rudjuk of BYU. He fell to fourth seed Mattias Silva of Boise State in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-7 (4). Sophomore Daniel Lohff also fell to Silva in three sets, but recovered to win the Consolation round over Alonzo Medina of BYU.
