Deseret Dual
Started in 2007, the Deseret First Duel Rivalry Series awards points to the winner of the Utah-BYU game for each sport in which the two schools compete. Points won by each sport will count toward a school's overall total. At the conclusion of each school year, a traveling granite trophy will be awarded to the rivalry series champion.
BYU currently leads the 2011-12 version of the rivalry series, 19-10.

BYU Cougars
BYU is currently ranked No. 52. The Cougars are still looking for their first road win of the season and are coming off a 5-2 loss at ninth-ranked Stanford. Three individuals are currently ranked, including Georgy Batrakov at No. 43, followed by Keaton Cullimore at 67th, and Patrick Kawka at No. 106.

Last Time against BYU
In April of 2011, the Utes suffered a 6-1 loss to the 35th-ranked Cougars. Alejandro Medinilla earned Utah's solo point with a 7-6(4), 6-4 victory over Spencer Smith at the No. 3 singles position. Dmytro Mamedov and Devin Lane also managed a doubles victory for the Utes, topping Smith and Roman Warrias, 8-4, at the third doubles slot.
Unbeaten Utes
Junior Mamedov, sophomore Devin Lane, and freshman Slim Hamza all currently hold undefeated dual-match singles records at 4-0, while freshman Ace Matias and Medinilla both hold a 2-0 record. Doubles pairs of Mamedov and Matias, as well as Hamza and Lane have complied undefeated 2-0 records in doubles dual matches.
Common Opponents
Utah and BYU have each faced Weber State, Idaho State, and Montana State, defeating them by exact scores of 7-0, 7-0, and 6-1, respectively.
Week in Review
The Utes return to action after a week-long break following two victories over regional opponents, Montana State and Idaho State in a double header. Junior Dmytro Mamedov earned the match clinching point against the Bobcats with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 position, while sophomore Ben Tasevac netted the deciding point against the Bengals with a 6-0, 7-5 win at the No. 4 spot.
