LAS VEGAS, NEV. - The University of Utah men's tennis team completed the third day of the Wilson ITA Mountain West Region Tournament on Friday. Utah's Zach Ganger won his match in the Quarterfinals against Eric Roberson of Boise State 6-0, 6-2.
Ganger, a junior and native to Jacksonville, Fla., played a stand-out match against Boise State's Eric Roberson on Friday in the Quarterfinals. The Ute swept the first set 6-0 over the Bronco, and didn't allow a comeback for Roberson in the second set. Ganger smashed a win in the second set, taking the match 6-0, 6-2. The Ute will take on Nejc Smole of Denver on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Semifinals.
In doubles play, Ute duo Ganger and Jason Smits had a tough loss in the Quarterfinals. After facing Jakub Dybala and Kyle McDonald of Montana State for an 8-4 win in the Round of 16, the duo took on Blake Boswell and Eric Roberson of Boise State for the Quarterfinals. The strenuous battle ended in an 8-5 win for Boise State's duo.
