The University of Utah men's tennis team was crushed 6-1 by No. 72 BYU on Thursday, April 15 at the Canyon Racquet Club. Utah is now 9-10 on the season and 0-2 in the Mountain West Conference.

Utah did not manage to pick up wins at any of the doubles positions and the Cougars got the early 1-0 lead. In singles, freshman Jason Yap claimed the Utes only point with a (6-1, 4-6, 6-3) victory over Ivan Kokurin at the No. 5. Roeland Brateanu fell (6-3, 6-2) to Erik Nyman at the No. 1. Tomasz Gryzb went three sets with Richard Dasek before picking up the loss at the No. 2 (2-6, 7-5, 6-4). It took Miron Mann's opponent Chip Hand three sets to dispatch him at the No. 3 (6-4, 2-6, 6-3). Nick Coutts came up short against Nima Roshan (6-1, 7-5) at the No.4 and Ryan Scott could not fend off Alonzo Medina at the No. 6 (6-4, 7-5).

Utah continues conference action with a match up against New Mexico on Friday, April 16 at the Canyon Racquet Club.
