No. 63 Utah Drops 4-3 Decision to No. 55 BYU

Provo, Utah - The University of Utah men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 55 BYU yesterday on the Cougars' home courts.

The Utes started the match against their in-state rival by winning the No. 1 and 3 doubles and earning a one point lead. Zach Ganger and Miron Mann downed Nima Roshan and Jose Lechuga at No. 1 (8-3). Dan Mascall and Tomasz Grzyb were victorious at No. 3 with an (8-6) win over Christian Hand and Shane LaPorte.

However, Utah dropped four of the six singles matches, giving up the lead to the Cougars. Ganger defeated James Ludlow (6-2, 6-3) at No. 2. Nick Coutts was responsible for Utah's other singles victory. He battled back from a loss in the second set to earn a (7-6, 6-7, 10-6) win over LaPorte.

With this loss, the men's tennis team falls to 12-6 on the season and 0-3 in the Mountain West Conference.
