SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis continued their conference schedule today, with a 5-2 win over visiting UNLV. The win moves the Utes to 8-10 on the year, 1-1 in Mountain West Conference.
The Utes took doubles in convincing fashion, with all three Utah teams winning. Roeland Brateanu and Nick Coutts took Henner Nehles and Romain Massoro out 8-4, with Tyler Poulson and Tomasz Grzyb downing Avi Salomon and Joel Kielbowicz 8-5, and Daniel Lohff and Kaisorn Chaichana defeating Milos Blagojevic and Ryan Barber 8-2.
The strong Ute showing continued into singles, with four Utes winning in straight sets. Roeland Brateanu, in no. two singles, defeated Romain Massaro 6-3, 6-4. Tomsz Grzyb defeated Joel Kilbowicz 6-3, 7-6 in number four singles. Nick Coutts had a 6-3, 6-3 win over Milos Blagojevic in number five singles.
Mike Bullard, a walk-on, made his debut for the Utes in number six singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ryan Barber.
The Utes will host San Diego State on Saturday, April 5.
