Pleasanton, Calif. - The University of Utah men's tennis team defeated the Santa Clara Broncos 5-1 at Club Sport in Pleasanton, Calif. yesterday. The Broncos fall to 3-4 on the season, while the Utes improve to 6-0.
Utah picked up wins at five singles spots. At No. 1, Tomasz Grzyb defeated Taylor Bedilion (7-6 (7), 6-4), while Zach Ganger dispatched Jan Macek (7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-1) at No. 2. Miron Mann beat Francisco Zepponi (6-2, 6-4) at No. 3 and Nick Coutts conquered Eric Kochanski (7-5, 6-2) at No. 4. Playing at No. 5, Ryan Scott downed Bobby Rasmussen (6-2, 6-2). Dan Mascall fought hard at No. 6 but ultimately fell to Tyler Wilson in three sets (4-6, 7-5, 6-3).
No doubles matches were played.
The Utes match up against San Francisco on Monday, Feb. 21 at 1:00 p.m.
