SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah golf team prepares for the 2013 Price's Give `Em Five UTEP Invitational this weekend in El Paso, Texas. The tournament will be held on the par-72, 7,307-yard course at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club.
The 54-hole tournament will begin both days at 8 a.m. MT. Thirty-six holes will be played Friday, followed by the final 18 holes on Saturday.
Utah will compete against Air Force, Boise State, Pac-12 rival Colorado, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, San Jose State, UC Riverside, host UTEP, and Western New Mexico.
Last Time at the UTEP Invitational
The Utes earned its best team finish since 2009 with an even-par 864 (281-295-288) to finish third. Ben Bankhead earned a career-best second-place finish with a career-low three-round total of 212 (70-72-70).
Redshirt Casey Halliday tied for eighth, shooting a 215 (71-73-71), while Jonathon Thomas shot a 222 (72-72-78), tying for 33rd. Gentry Hicks tied for 47th with a 226 (71-78-77), while Brandon Kida shot a two-round score of 139 (69-DQ-70), placing him in 72nd. Jack Maerki competed in the invitational as an unattached individual, posting a 229 (82-75-72), to finish tied for 59th.

Utah hosted its first-annual Utah Invitational Oct. 7-8 at the Jeremy Golf Club in Park City, Utah. The squad tied for fourth with a three-round total of 1087 (365-355-367). Sophomore Jonathon Thomas lead the squad, tying for fifth with a two-under 211 (69-68-74).
