Complete Wyoming Desert Classic Notes Get Acrobat Reader

SALT LAKE CITY-The University of Utah golf team heads to the 2008 Inaugural University of Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate this weekend, Oct. 4-5. The par 72 event will be held at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif. Play will begin Saturday with the first two rounds and finish Sunday with the final 18 holes.

The Field:

Nineteen teams will compete in this year's Desert Classic including: Wyoming, Arizona, Boise State, Colorado State, Denver, Gonzaga, Idaho, Long Beach State, UMKC, Northern Colorado, Oregon State, Portland, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, UC Santa Barbara, Utah Valley, Washington State and Weber State.

Last Time:

Last year, the Utes placed fifth in the Classic scoring a total of 840. Chance Cota is the only Utah player who has competed in the tournament before shooting a total score of 218 at eight-over-par to tie for 66th.

Last Week:

In its last meet, Utah took ninth at the William H. Tucker Invitational (304, 301, 299), Sept. 26-27. Leading the Utes was Senior Chance Cota (San Diego, Calif.) who finished 13th at two-over-par.

Chase Hite (Tucson, Ariz.) had a combined score of 228 (79, 75, 74), tied for 52nd-place. Mike Branca, a sophomore from Salt Lake City, tied for 74th-place. Branca had a final score of 234 and Derek Adams (Lake Havasu, Calif.) and Jeff Kitches (Salt Lake City) tied for 77th place with final scores totaling 235.
