Utah Golf Heads To Colorado For Falcon Invitational

SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah golf team will head to Colorado Springs, Colo. for the 41st USAFA Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by the Air Force Academy, beginning at 8:15 a.m. The first two rounds will take place Saturday Sept. 19 with the final round on Sunday. The invite will take place at the 7,301 yard, par 72 Eisenhower Golf Club--Blue Course.

The Field: Utah will join 18 teams, they include: Air Force, Air Force JV, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, San Diego, Southern Utah, UAB, UCCS, UNLV, Utah State, Utah Valley, Washington State, Weber State and Wyoming.

The Last Time: Last year the Utes ended the tournament in 14th place with a three round score of 907 (291, 303, 313), at 43-over-par. Joe Webber was the leader for Utah in the individual standings with a score of 224, eight-over-par. Chase Hite was next in line for the Utes with a score of 225, nine-over-par. Jeff Kitches and Kaleb Mahanes also participated last year with scores of 232 and 236, respectively.

Colorado State finished the tournament last year in first place with a score of 837, 27-under-par. Bryce Hanstad of Colorado State captured first place in the individual standings with a score of 205, 11-under-par.

Last Week: Utah traveled to Albuquerque, N.M. for the William H. Tucker Invitational. The Utes ended the weekend with a 15th place finish with a score of 911, 47-over-par. Juniors Hite and Branca tied for 56th place at 10-over-par, 226.

Up Next: Up next for the Utes is the Utah/Weber State Purple and Red Invitational Sept. 28-29 at the Valley View Golf Club in Layton, Utah.
